LogiCORE Distributed Memory Generator v1.1 - What is the difference between Distributed Memory Generator and Distributed Memory?

General Description
What is the difference between the Distributed Memory Generator and Distributed Memory LogiCOREs?

The Distributed Memory Generator is a newer IP module that will eventually obsolete the Distributed Memory core. In ISE 7.1i IP Update 1, Distributed Memory Generator v1.1 is delivered along with Distributed Memory core v7.1. For all new designs, it is recommended to use the Distributed Memory Generator.

Device Support
Distributed Memory v7.1 supports:
Virtex, Virtex-E, QPro Virtex Rad-Hard, QPro Virtex Hi-Rel, QPro Virtex-E Military, Spartan-II, Spartan-IIE, Virtex-II, QPro Virtex-II Rad Tolerant, QPro Virtex-II Military, Virtex-IIP, Spartan-3, Virtex-4

Distributed Memory Generator v1.1 supports:
All of above devices, plus Spartan-3E
Any new architectures introduced by Xilinx in the future will only be supported by the Distributed Memory Generator.

Memory Types
Following Memory types are supported by both Distributed Memory Generator and Distributed Memory:
Single-Port RAM
Dual-Port RAM
SRL16 based memory

RPM Support
Distributed Memory is capable of generating RPMs to produce cores with consistent relative placement. The newer Distributed Memory Generator does not generate RPMs. This makes the core easier to migrate to new architectures.

Behavioral Simulation Model
Distributed Memory Generator is delivered with new behavioral simulation model which runs 10x faster than the Distributed Memory core models.
