AMD Power Estimator User Guide UltraScale / UltraScale+
The AMD Power Estimator (XPE) spreadsheet is a power estimation tool typically used in the pre-design and pre-implementation phases of a project.
Power and cooling specifications for adaptive SoC and FPGA designs have to be determined early in the product’s design cycle, often even before the logic within the adaptive SoC or FPGA has been designed. An accurate worst-case power analysis early on helps users avoid the pitfalls of overdesigning or under designing your product’s power or cooling system. The AMD Power Estimator (XPE) is a spreadsheet based tool that helps you achieve this.
XPE estimates the power consumption of your design at any stage during the design cycle. It accepts design information through simple design wizards, analyzes them and provides a detailed power and thermal information.
This tool is tightly integrated with both the ISE™ and Vivado™ Design Suites to help users migrate design data from previous designs or IPs for power estimation of next generation products.

Versal Power Estimation Important Information
Starting in 2023.1, the entire Versal family is supported in Power Design Manager (PDM). PDM should be used for all Versal AI Core, Prime, Premium, AI Edge, HBM power estimation. Existing XPE estimates can be easily migrated to PDM.
Versal XPE has been deprecated.
Versal PDM download available below.
Compatibility Information
Microsoft Windows 10 or later is required. Running XPE under non-Windows platforms is not supported.
Macros must be enabled within Excel to use these spreadsheets. To do so:
NOTE : A few specific Microsoft Security Updates on your system may disable XPE control functions. As a result, buttons, check boxes and pull down menu selections do not respond. If such issues occur, please refer to AR# 63366 and AR# 63237 for further details on the symptoms and solutions.
UltraScale+ Power Estimation Important Information
Starting in 2024.2, Artix™ Kintex™ Virtex™ Zynq™ MPSoC/Zynq RFSoC families in UltraScale+ portfolio are supported in Power Design Manager (PDM). PDM is recommended for all new and existing UltraScale+ designs to leverage Power Design Page updates that include Power Sequencing, Power rail consolidations and Dynamic decoupling capacitors recommendation. Existing XPE estimates can be easily migrated to PDM.
