7.1i Install - During an install, only 9 digits (3 of 4 per box) of the Registration ID rather than the required 12 are allowed to be entered

Keywords: Install, 3.1i, registration, ID, digits, font, 4.1i, 5.1i, 6.1i

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When installing the ISE tools, I must enter a 12-digit Registration ID. The Registration ID window splits the number up into 3 groups of 4 digits. Users should be able to enter 4 digits in each of the 3 fields; however, in some cases, each field allows only 3 digits to be entered (leading to a total of only 9 digits).

This problem occurs on PC-based systems using non-standard font settings. The Windows default font for Message Boxes is MS Sans Serif, size 8. If other fonts are used, there might not be enough space to enter the entire number.

Changing back to the Windows default font should allow you to continue with the installation. (After it is finished, you can return to the original font settings.)

To access the font settings in Windows systems, select Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Display -> Appearance; then, select "Title Bar Item."

Additionally, a smudged or scratched CD can also cause these problems.
