4.1i CORE Generator - The memory editor produces .coe files that cause invalid radix errors in XC4000/Spartan registered ROM cores

Keywords: registered ROM, memory editor, .COE, invalid, radix, coefficient

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
The memory editor produces .coe files that cause invalid radix errors for XC4000 and Spartan registered ROM cores.

Memory Editor produces .coe files that are only compatible with the newer memory cores:

Distributed Memory v2_0 and later
Dual/Single-Port Block Memory v3_0 and later

If you are using any other version of the cores (such as Distributed Memory v1_0 or Block Memory v1_0 or any memory cores for XC4000 or Spartan devices), the .coe files produced by Memory Editor must be manually altered in order to make them compatible.

Please refer to the specific core data sheet for the valid COE format. The example .coe files can be found in the <Xilinx>/cortege/data directory. Please refer to the .coe file name and the comments within the .coe file to determine which file is valid for your particular core.
