PC Verification Steps:

A. Verify that you can start up a V2PDK Shell

Choose Start -> Programs -> Virtex-II Pro Developer's Kit -> V2PDK Shell

The V2PDK Shell should open and say "Welcome to the Virtex-II Pro Developer's Kit"; it should also list a command prompt such as D:\XILINX\V2PDK>.

B. Verify that the V2PDK environment variable is set by using the following command:

D:\XILINX\V2PDK> echo %V2PRO%

A message similar to the following should be returned:

D:/XILINX/V2PDK

C. Verify that the XILINX environment variable is set by using the following command:

D:\XILINX\V2PDK> echo %XILINX%

A message similar to the following should be returned:

D:\XILINX

D. Verify that the XILINX tools are installed correctly

D:\XILINX\V2PDK> map

A message similar to the following should be returned:

Release 4.2i - Map E.35
Copyright (c) 1995-2001 Xilinx, Inc. All Rights Reserved
Usage: map [-h] [-p partname] .....

E. Verify that the GNU Software Development Tools are correctly installed

Type:

D:\XILINX\V2PDK> cd source\sw\apps\hello
D:\XILINX\V2PDK\SOURCE\SW\APPS\HELLO> make clean && make --quiet

A message similar to the following should be returned:

rm -f -r ml2 v2pdk
Linking application ml2/debug/hello.elf
Linking application ml2/release/hello.elf
Linking application v2pdk/debug/hello.elf
Linking application v2pdk/release/hello.elf

F. Verify that Synplify is set up correctly

Type:

D:\XILINX\V2PDK\SOURCE\SW\APPS\HELLO> cd ..\..\..\..\
D:\XILINX\V2PDK> cd platforms\simple
D:\XILINX\V2PDK\platforms\simple> make synth

Synplify should start. You do not need to synthesize the design. Close Synplify.

G. Verify that MTI is set up correctly

Type:

D:\XILINX\V2PDK\platforms\simple> make func_sim

MTI should start and compile the design. You do not need to run the simulation. Close MTI.

E. Verify that the GNU Software Development Tools are correctly installed

Type:

prompt> cd $V2PRO/source/sw/apps/hello
prompt> make clean && make --quiet

A message similar to the following should be returned:

rm -f -r ml2 v2pdk
Linking application ml2/debug/hello.elf
Linking application ml2/release/hello.elf
Linking application v2pdk/debug/hello.elf
Linking application v2pdk/release/hello.elf

F. Verify that Synplify is set up correctly

Type:

prompt> cd $V2PRO/platforms/simple
prompt>make synth

Synplify should start. You do not need to synthesize the design. Close Synplify.
