5.1i ChipScope Pro - ChipScope Pro Analyzer continuously displays "waiting for upload" when a sample buffer size is specified as "256"


General Description:

After I run the "Inserter" flow, ChipScope Pro Analyzer continues to display "waiting for upload..." even though the log reports that the buffer is full.


This problem occurs on Virtex/E and Spartan-II/IIE devices if the sample buffer size is set to "256".

To work around this issue, increase the data depth size to be greater than or equal to 512 samples. This will not effect the Virtex-II or Virtex-II Pro devices, as the block RAM dimensions are a minimum of 512.

This issue will be fixed in the next ChipScope Pro update.

The basic "waiting for upload" issue is a result of the sample buffer not filling up. If the sample buffer is at least 512, ensure that the ILA is getting a good clock. Be sure that the clock is oscillating and that it is locked to the correct pin.
