5.1i ISE - When I push into a CORE Generator symbol from ECS, the symbol becomes "Out of Date"

Keywords: .xco, CORE Generator, COREGen, ECS, schematic, out of date, Project Navigator

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When I push into a CORE Generator symbol from ECS and then close CORE Generator without regenerating the core, ECS reports that the symbol is "Out of Date" and asks if I want to update the symbol. If I update the symbol, a message appears indicating that I should save the schematic before I exit or run Project Navigator processes. However, if I save the schematic source, any completed Project Navigator processes are marked as "Out of Date" with an orange question mark status marker.

After CORE Generator is closed, Project Navigator incorrectly updates the time stamp on many of the core-specific files, including the <core>.sym file. This causes the symbol to be out of date in ECS. The time stamp should only be modified on the core files when the core is regenerated. To avoid losing data from completed processes, close the schematic sheet without saving. The next time you open the schematic, ECS will indicate that the core symbol is out of date. Select "OK" (without updating the symbol).

If you already saved the schematic and processes are marked "Out of Date", you can create a snapshot using "Project -> Take Snapshot" to preserve the existing data.

This problem is fixed in the latest 5.2i Service Pack available at:
The first service pack containing the fix is 5.2i Service Pack 1.
