iMPACT does not release a lock on the parallel port after a programing cable is connected. This occurs with the Parallel III or IV cable. The iMACT software functions correctly with the cable, but after the software is closed, the parallel port cannot be used by other applications unless the PC is re-booted.
This occurs only in version 7.1i of the software and has been fixed in 8.1i (scheduled for release in November 2005).
When using the 7.1i version of the software, use one of the following work-arounds to release the parallel port after iMPACT is closed:
- After using the PC4 cable, open the cable as Parallel III from the Boundary-Scan tab, and then close the cable by selecting Disconnect All Cables from the Output tab.
- Select the Slave Serial tab instead of the Boundry-Scan tab in Configuration Mode, open the PC4 cable, and then select Disconnect All Cables.
