Platform Cable USB/USB-II - Windows does not find Platform Cable USB

Windows does find new hardware for the Platform Cable USB. "The Found New Hardware Wizard" does not run even after installation of the drivers. What is the problem here? How can I access the cable?

This can occur if MultiLINX drivers are installed on the machine. You can check this by using regedit.exe. If the following entries are present, the MultiLINX drivers are installed.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mlnxfltr

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MultiLINX

To work around this issue, disable the MultiLINX services.

1. Create a system restore point to make sure that you can recover from a failure while modifying the registry. Follow the instructions provided in this link:

2. Open a Windows Run prompt or command prompt and type regedit.

3. Navigate to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mlnxfltr" entry.
Double-click the "Start" key and set the value to 4 to disable the service.

4. Navigate to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MultiLINX" entry.
Double-click the "Start" key and set the value to 4 to disable the service.

5. Reboot the computer.

6. Disconnect and reconnect your Platform Cable USB.

The "Found new Hardware Wizard" should run, and the cable should now be accessible.
