After updating from 2018.3 to 2018.3.1, Vivado System Generator does not show Virtex UltraScale+ HBM devices, or Defense Grade Kintex UltraScale+ devices.
How can I get these devices added?
There is a known issue that has been identified and fixed in the new Vivado releases.
The issue occurs due to the xlpartinfo.tcl file not getting updated. As a result the file is missing the HBM production family and Defense Grade Kintex UltraScale+ devices.
Vivado System Generator does not show Virtex UltraScale+ HBM devices unless HBM ES devices are also installed.
To be able to see Virtex UltraScale+ HBM devices in System Generator, you will need to run 'Add Design Tools or Devices' in Vivado 2018.3 and install Virtex UltraScale+ HBM ES devices.
Once added, the Virtex UltraScale+ HBM parts will also be visible.
To add the missing Defense Grade Kintex UltraScale+ devices in System Generator, as a work-around for Vivado 2018.3.1 please download and source the attached xlpartinfo.tcl file.
To execute this file, you can run the command below:
vivado -mode batch -source xlpartinfo.tcl -tclargs $XILINX_VIVADO/data/parts/installed_devices.txt
($XILINX_VIVADO is the location where the Vivado version is installed. For example, C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2018.3. This is normally set when the settings script files (settings32.bat, settins64.bat, settins32.sh and settings64.sh) are executed)
This will update the installed_devices.txt file with the available parts for System Generator, and you should then see the required Defense Grade Kintex UltraScale+ devices.
