AR# 8216: 2.1i FPGA Editor - Dr. Watson application error for fpga_editor.exe when saving a design as a macro
2.1i FPGA Editor - Dr. Watson application error for fpga_editor.exe when saving a design as a macro
Keywords: FPGA Editor, Dr. Watson, 0000005, 006098f2, fpga_editor.exe, saving, macro
General Description: When a design containing routed nets is saved as a macro in FPGA Editor, the following Dr. Watson error occurs:
An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.fpga_editor.exe Exception:access violation (0xc0000005). Address (0x006098f2)
When saving a macro file (.nmc file) in FPGA Editor, the only items that the macro may contain are: placed components, unplaced IOBs and unrouted nets.
If a design has routed nets or placed IOBs, it is not a proper macro and will cause a Dr. Watson error when it is saved.
To save the file as a macro, unplace any placed IOBs and unroute all nets. This should allow the design to be saved as a macro. For more information on creating macros in FPGA Editor, please see the FPGA Editor Guide in the 2.1i documentation at: http://toolbox.xilinx.com/docsan/2_1i)
