General Description: I have an existing Alliance install on the network. I want to point my client machine to the networked installation. What steps do I need to follow?

1
Workstation (Sun or HP)
For the workstation, you can simply source the setup file in the $XILINX directory. Additionally, you can select the 'Network Install' option from the 2.1i software (SUN only), and point to the networked location. NOTE: This option should NOT be used to install the tools to a networked drive, as the installation will fail. It only can only point to an existing network installation. When this option is run, it simply creates a local copy of the setup script for the user to source.

PC:
To access a networked Alliance install from your PC, you should run the 'Network Installation' option from the installation CD, and then point to the networked location.
What this does is create the needed registry entries, and also sets up the environment.
Additionally, you can manually set these entries.
To do this, you need to set the XILINX variable to the installation directory, put %XILINX%\bin\nt into the PATH, and run the command
%XILINX%\bin\nt\revengine /REGISTER
This properly sets the registry so that Design Manager will correctly work with the OLE software. For further information about this, please see the Registry Entries section of the Installation Guide.
